How to get the best waxing results!

Are you considering your 1st waxing experience? Maybe you have been waxed too many times to count, but still experience some bumps along the way. These tips will help you achieve silky, smooth skin!

Before you Book your waxing treatment

Let those prickly hairs grow! You want a minimum of 1/4th of an inch of hair prior to your first waxing treatment. This is typically 2 - 3 weeks of hair regrowth after you have shaved. Ideally 3 weeks if you can hold out that long! Your Esthetician will be able to wax away the 3 hair growth cycles in 1 treatment. If you do not wait 3 weeks for your hair to grow out you may experience stubble after a wax due to the hair not being long enough, or all 3 growth cycles grown in. Imagine the length of a grain of rice.

Plan for the pain

Who needs coffee when you can wake up to a wax! ;) Be sure to avoid caffeine prior to waxing. Trust me, your nerve endings will thank me for recommended to sip your coffee after! That is unless you want to be uncomfortable, and crying (I kid!) ;) Stimulants like coffee will make your skin extra sensitive. You can also avoid waxing 3 days prior to your menstrual cycle, and take a pain reliever recommended to you by your Dr.

What to avoid for 24 - 48hrs

Want the best waxing experience? Not sure how to handle your newly bare body? Your pores will be open and exposed after a wax. You will want to be sure to keep the are freshly waxed clean, and away from bacteria causing environments, and/or products.

Avoid:

-DON'T Touch area just waxed

- Makeup on face (after facial waxing)

- Heat and Friction

- Tight clothing

- Any physical activity that will cause sweat

- Swimming

- Saunas

- Steam Rooms

- Hot Tubs

- Sun Exposure/ Tanning Beds/ Spray Tanning

- Sexual activity

- Fragrant Powder, Lotions, or Creams

- Deodorant (after under arm waxing)

- AHA's/BHA's

Aftercare

Follow the "What to avoid for 24 - 48hrs" and then proceed to Exfoliate & Moisturize as recommended is necessary. Because waxing damages the hair follicles you may experience ingrown hairs if you are not following any aftercare. The hair grows back finer and sometimes becomes trapped under the skin if dead skin is not exfoliated off the surface causing ingrown hairs. You can find our favorite exfoliation, and moisturizing products in the Beauty Salon. If you want to experience smooth, and silky skin you will need to exfoliate, and moisturize.

Pre Booking your next waxing appointment

Now that you've survived your very first wax (the most painful) you should pre book your next waxing treatment 2 - 3 weeks out. You will experience better results from waxing on a continuous waxing schedule. The more frequent you wax your hair will grow back thinner, and overtime less, and less.
